October Favourites

Autumn is all full swing over here and I am loving sweater weather, cozy candles and curling up in a blanket in the evenings, oh and everything pumpkin of course!
I think all of my favourites from this month are classic Autumn pieces that everyone will have in their home/closet. Oh and another random fave from October I thought I would share with you all is the Backstreet Boys haha! I had been listening to some old tracks earlier this month and then they performed on Strictly Come Dancing and now they are on repeat over here. Anyone else love them?

Buffalo Check Pumpkin from dunn.coffee.decor on Instagram

October is all about the pumpkins right?! I ordered this super adorable buffalo check one from Toni on Instagram {find her page here}. I love a good faux pumpkin that I can bring out year after year and when I found Toni's page this is the only one she had left at the time. I think it was meant to be mine as it matched the pumpkin latte candle I found in T.K. Maxx perfectly!

Anyone else find pumpkin products everywhere in their home even in their bathroom at this time of year? I purchased a whole bunch of the Vanilla Pumpkin range from The Body Shop last year because they had such a great deal on. I ended up keeping some to use this year because I stock piled so much. Luckily they brought it back this year and you can still find it in stores so I recommend grabbing some before it disappears for another year. I love their little hand creams they are perfect to have in your bag.

I've already raved about this scarf here so you already know how much I love it. There is nothing not to like about this scarf and I suggest everyone picks one up for the winter. If this colour combination isn't to your taste then there are two other colour combinations including  a gorgeous pale grey one. It's only £8.99 and I have worn it a bunch of times already and I'll be wearing it even more as the weather continues to cool down.

T.K. Maxx Knit Blanket

I wish I could link this blanket for you all because it is so soft and snuggly and was only £19.99. If you are in the US I have found this throw on the T.J. Maxx site which looks almost identical. I love picking up new blankets for each season, they're such an affordable way to change up your decor and I always find great priced ones in T.K. Maxx.

Another piece you might have seen on the blog here is this jumper from H&M. It was one of my keepers from my H&M Try On. I loved it so much I kept both colours I had ordered and went on to order a blue one too! I am tempted to order the black one now. I can't pick which one is my favourite colour, I only photographed the green because the other two were in the wash! They have been perfect for layering this month as the weather can change throughout the day and these jumpers are nice and lightweight. They are also long enough to pair with leggings and I have been living in that pairing!

Last month for my sister's birthday we went to go get mani/pedis and this colour was one of the polishes I was trying to decide between. I ended up going with a different one but I kept thinking back to this colour. It's a perfect pumpkin orange colour and so I ended up purchasing it earlier this month and it has been on my nails ever since. I really like the formula of this one too, it paints so nicely and I've found it actually wears pretty well too.

So that's another month of favourites down and only two more months of this year to go, I find it so crazy it's November this week, anyone else think this year as gone by in a blink of an eye?

Apple Picking Plaid & Stripes

Nordstrom Tee // Old Navy Jeans // Zara Scarf {identical} //
Tory Burch Boots //Aritzia Jacket // Old Navy Bag

I love to share pictures from our annual apple picking trip on the blog every year and this year it was rather a quick visit but we still managed to snap a few photos! My normal apple picking uniform is a plaid shirt and vest, but I mixed it up last year and decided to do the same this year. I went with a another favourite combination of stripes and plaid!

New Plaid Scarf

You all know I love a good scarf, but I really don't NEED anymore and I was planning not to buy any this season. Then I saw this beautiful and inexpensive scarf at H&M and couldn't not add it to my collection! It's only £8.99 and is so soft and cosy. I fell in love with the colour combination because I am loving blush pink, mustard and tan for this Autumn and this scarf combines them all so well! Don't be surprised if you see this scarf making multiple appearances on the blog.

H&M Cozy Knits Try On

Who doesn't love Sweater Weather?! I love when it's time to pull out all my super soft cozy knits for another Fall and I always like to add a few new jumpers to my collection each year. H&M is normally the first place I head to to as I always find something I like in there {last year it was this beautiful pearl piece}. I ordered a whole bunch to try on the other week and I thought I would do a little try on post to share the ones I loved and the ones I would pass on. You'll see I went with a pretty neutral theme this year.

{wearing size medium}

This is the first jumper I picked up with a discount voucher I had and it is so so soft! I tried it on and ended up wearing it around the house for the rest of the evening. I sized up in this one to try to give it a little bit more length, but this is a sweater that will look better paired with jeans. It has a slightly boxy fit and I would say it runs true to size but size up for a more over sized fit. Some people might find this material itchy but I find it to be super soft. This one was a keeper even though I wish It was longer.

{wearing size small}

This sweater was pretty thick and warm and while not super soft like the previously sweater it was comfy and definitely not itchy at all. I liked the wider sleeves, I wish it had been a little longer. I would say it runs true to size but you could size down as the neckline is quite wide, but it might make the length a little shorter. I ended up sending this one back but I would consider it if it went on sale.

{wearing size small}

This knit was probably the highest quality of all of the pieces I ordered. It was thick, cozy and warm. The balloon sleeves are a nice little detail and I loved the ribbing. However this is another one that was just a bit short for my liking so I returned it. I have found lot of sweaters to run on the shorter boxy side this year.

{wearing size medium}

This was the second sweater I picked up and I knew it would be a keeper. It is very thin and probably will snag easily so you may need to be a little careful with it especially when washing. I got this with a discount and feel that the discounted price is probably the price it should have been to start with. This one is perfect for layering and warmer autumn days. I love how lightweight it is and the colour is just a beautiful autumn brown. I sized up in this for a oversized fit, however you could easily get your normal size or even size down if you want it to be more fitted. I can wear the medium slightly off the shoulder which I like and I love the exaggerated hem.

{wearing size small}

I loved the brown version so much I also picked it up in green {and since writing this post I also picked it up in the this beautiful blue, all at a discounted price}. I ordered the green and blue in my normal size small. They are still oversized and long enough to wear with leggings but I can't pull these ones off the shoulder. I think these are going to get a lot of wear over the next few months.

{wearing size medium}

I have had this jumper saved in my favourites on H&M since last year and they are still stocking it. It was out of stock in size small in this colour so I went up one size. I would say it runs true to size, I found the medium to be a bit shapeless unless it was front tucked. This is another super super soft piece that you won't want to take off once you've put it on. I decided to return and see if a small comes back in stock though.

{wearing size small}

I really loved this last sweater, I had wanted to order it in cream but it was out of stock so decided to still order it in grey. This one is very oversized so you might want to size down. I would personally stick with my normal size so I could layer a shirt underneath and I like that fact that it is sooo big and snuggly. It's a perfect piece to wear on a super cold day and curl up by a fire in. This one again was a really lovely quality for the price. I might have kept it if I didn't already own a grey polo neck sweater.

B&M Autumn Candles

I have been meaning to do a review of these candles since B&M started stocking them a couple of years ago but you know me, it takes me a while to get around to these things. You will have seen pictures of them on the blog a few times though!

When these B&M candles came out two years ago everyone in the U.K went crazy for them because they are a great dupe for Bath & Body Works Candles which we can't easily get hold of here. I had always wanted one of the B&BW candles but until last year I hadn't been lucky enough to own one!

The B&M Essence Candles range in price from £2.99-£3.99 (on sale for £3 in my local store currently). They cannot be beaten on price, I have not found another candle this size you can purchase in the U.K that actually gives off a good scent when burnt.
This is now the third Autumn I have been burning these candles and all of the ones I own have been able to fill a room full of fragrance and I have found them to burn pretty evenly if you burn them for long enough (I would say at least 2.5-3 hours). However if you smell them in store before purchasing some definitely smell stronger than others even of the same fragrance, so make sure try them in store.

Some of the scents pictured above where purchased (in multiples which is why I still have a supply) in previous years but I have seen most of them still in stores along with the Autumn fragrance which I believe is new for this year! The marshmallow fireside is still available in the cooper lid version of this candle {featured on the blog here}, although I prefer the scent of the silver lid version, they're meant to be the same but I don't think they are, but both smell delicious, and I am sorry to say I don't know if they smell just like the Bath & Body Works candle of the same name as I haven't smelt it.

But since I have now had the chance to try out a few B&BW candles I can tell you my thoughts on how the B&M version compares. The B&BW candles come in a much larger variety of scents and they give off a much stronger aroma when burnt, they have become my favourite candles. The B&M ones feature a pretty design on the lid just like it's inspiration and they have been labelled similar. In the U.K you will be looking at around £18-£20 if you want to pick up a Bath & Body Works Candle and while I think they are far superior, you really can't beat the price of the B&M Essence Candles. So unless you are headed to the U.S soon (with an empty suitcase) and can take advantage of the amazing sales to stock up on B&BW ones, I think your best bet is to head to your nearest B&M store and grab a few of these candles before they sell out. I am hoping they will continue to bring out new scents in the years to come!
