Heart Shaped Valentine's Layer Cake
Whilst being super productive and browsing through pinterest I saw this genius pin for making a heart shape cake using a round and square cake tin. I knew that it was perfect for making a special cake for a Valentine's weekend treat. I decided to make mine a four layer cake using a mixture red velvet and chocolate cake. I used cream cheese frosting to layer the cakes together and then coloured the rest of the frosting a light pink to cover the cake. I was trying to think of something to decorate the top with so it didn't look so plain, and chocolate covered strawberries popped into my head. I can't believe I've never made my own ones before, they are so quick and simple to make! This would also be a great cake to use pink ombre layers of vanilla sponge in too.

Red & Pink
My Valentine's Day look was a classic pink & red pairing. I hadn't taken my beautiful Miu Miu on an outing for a while and Valentine's Day seemed like the most appropriate occasion to bring her back out.

Valentine's Brown Sugar M&M Blondies
Recipe from cupcakediariesblog.com (I also added an extra cup of chocolate chips in)
makes a 9×9 pan
- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 – 1 1/2 c. Valentine’s Day M&M’s
Directions
- Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Melt 1/3 c. butter. Place it in a mixing bowl then add 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar; mix well and cool slightly. Add egg and vanilla and blend well.
- Add the flour mixture a little at a time, mixing well. Mix in about 2/3 c. of the M&M’s.
- Spread in a greased 9×9 pan. Sprinkle more M&M’s on top (about 2/3 c. more, or desired amount).
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees. *Double the recipe if you would like to make it in a 9×13 pan.*
I have been wanting to bake some goodies using the Valentine's M&M mix since I spotted them in the M&M Factory in London. I love a good sugar filled treat baked with love and featuring some kinda of pink candy. Previous years have seen me make baked with heart cupcakes & homemade love hearts.
This year I found this recipe for brown sugar blondies and as I had never baked blondies before decided to give them ago. They barely lasted 24 hours in my house, they are sooo gooey inside and I am already planning on cooking up a second batch at the weekend.
Bag some up, tie them with pink and red twine and add a sweet notecard and drop them on someones doorstep as a little surprise this weekend, I can guarantee they will love them!

Love Notes
Hand written cards and letters are a must in my book, I am a huge fan of sending some snail mail all year round. This month these beautiful Je T'aime notecards from SS Print Shop are my choice of cards, they are perfect for Valentine's Day no matter who you are sending some love to, a best friend, the love of your life or just someone who has helped you out when you needed it.

A Little Lush Valentine...
Sometimes it's nice to treat yourself a little at the weekend and February seems like the perfect month to show everyone some love including yourself. I stopped by Lush on Sunday and picked up some of the Valentine's bath products. I am most excited about the Love Locket, there's a surprise inside and I hear it involves confetti! The roses were a little treat the weekend before.
