Happy Friday Reader's! I hope everyone in the USA had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.

I feel like I have been MIA this month but the past couple of weeks has been filled full of friends and fun, including are little baby girl turning 6 months old.

Tonight I'm off to the see the Christmas lights get switched on in my home town and have my first glass (or two) of mulled wine this year, I can't wait!

If you were stopping by my blog 3 years ago you may remember I went to a sewing class here in Suffolk because I wanted to learn a new skill. Will two years later I decided to go back to Spinney Brook Workbox and try my hand at something a little more complex! 

I had seen this blog post over on Gal Meets Glam earlier last year and fell in love with Julia's dress, but unfortunately it had sold out. So when my sister told me she wanted to go back and learn some dress making skills I already knew in my head what I wanted to create! I found the pattern in a local sewing shop and the fabric (which sadly does wrinkle quite easily) on Etsy, after hours of hunting for the perfect size check.

This time we went for two days of sewing with Elizabeth and my dress came home almost complete, I just had to sew the buttons on. This dress was not the easiest to make and there is no way I could have made it on my own, but I learnt so many sewing skills from pattern cutting to button holes and collars. My favourite thing about the dress (and a requirement when I was looking for patterns) is that it has pockets. 

As we didn't go for our sewing class until the end of September I have been eagerly awaiting this summer to roll around so I could start wearing this dress non stop. I am so happy with how it turned out and pretty proud that I managed to make something wearable. My next project to tackle on my own is a simple skirt so hopefully I will find that easy!

DIY Valentine's Heart Print Apron

With Valentine's Day next week I decided to share a few little love filled posts with you this week, starting with a super easy and very cheap DIY project, a heart print apron, made from two tea towels, I found this set on sale at B&M Stores last year for just £1! 

You Will Need:

Two Tea Towels (or pieces of fabric) 

Scissors

Thread

Bias Binding

Start by shaping your first tea towel into the shape of an apron, I laid mine against one I already had then just cut off the excess fabric. Then edge the 'apron' with some bias binding.

I then used the other tea towel to make the pocket and the straps, but you could just use some off cuts of fabric. You can make the pocket any size/shape you want, after I made this I thought a heart shaped pocket would have been cute! 

The straps were made by folding the fabric in on itself and edging them so there are no raw edges on show. I then just stitched them into place and my apron was ready to go!

It's October tomorrow!! I have started to add a few pieces of autumn decor around the house and can't wait to decorate properly this weekend! I still haven't grabbed a Pumpkin Spice Latte yet, it's on my Fall To Do List... I already checked off apple picking last weekend! Where are some of your favourite activities to do in Autumn?!
